The Chico Museum

We at the Museum, interpret, exhibit, and preserve the history of Chico, Butte County, and the surrounding area through permanent and rotating exhibits.Covered Bridges Exhibit

Our exhibits change every four to six months and are geared towards both adults and children. Interactive, hands-on displays are frequently incorporated into the exhibits. The Museum is visited by hundreds of children each year as part of school tours.

Aside from our in-house exhibits, we host some of the best traveling exhibits available to small museums. We sponsor lectures, workshops and presentations throughout the year.

The Museum has available for rental a Maidu Traveling Trunk. This trunk, filled with books, videos, educational materials, and artifacts crafted by local Native artisans, offers a wide source of materials for teaching students about the life ways of the local Native Americans. The trunk is available for teachers and educators for a nominal deposit and fee. Please contact the Museum for more information.
